Bishop Edward M. Lohse will celebrate Mass at a Migrant Camp. This Mass will be offered for the intentions of all the farm workers and for all who are present.
Bishop Lohse will celebrate a Cursillo Mass on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2 p.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Refreshments and fellowship to follow at the Crowley Center. This Mass and gathering is open to all; previously attending a Cursillo retreat is not a requirement.
A gathering open to anyone with disabilities who enjoys making new friends, engaging in fun games & activities, and opening their heart and mind to the teachings of Jesus.
KALAMAZOO, Mich.: (July 28, 2026): Pope Leo XIV has appointed The Most Reverend Edward M. Lohse as a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.
“I am humbled and honored to be asked to serve as a member of the Apostolic Signatura, and I am grateful for the opportunity to assist the Holy See in this capacity,” said Bishop Lohse who earned both a license and doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He also was an adjunct faculty member of the Pontifical North American College, Vatican City from 2011-2015.
Bishop Lohse retains his current assignments as Bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Steubenville and as a member of the Dicastery for the Clergy.
The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura is composed of Cardinals, Bishops and priests appointed by the Roman Pontiff for a term of five years. It is headed by the Cardinal Prefect.
The appointment was announced by the Vatican on Saturday July 25, 2026.
