Kalamazoo Diocese Association of Catholic Widow/ers

This group was formed in September, 1989 to help support the widows and widowers of the Diocese.  This group has evolved over the years to be mostly a social group that also includes a spiritual component and service throughout the year.  Each year a planning group meets in January to plan that year’s events.

They gather nine times during the year for varying activities. Some months they start with Mass and then go someplace to share a meal together, other times they see a play or go to a concert along with sharing a meal. 

Each year they sponsor two retreats – one during Advent and one during Lent.  At retreat time they collect non-perishable food to donate to the local food pantries. They also collect small gifts for the Sisters in the Nursing Home or toys for needy children at their December gathering. 

They have membership dues that have remained at $12 all this time.  The dues cover speaker stipends, newsletter, mailings etc.
