This workshop will provide training for the prospective FOCCUS facilitator and refresh the skills of the seasoned facilitator.
The FOCCUS facilitator serves as neither a teacher nor a counselor, although individual facilitators may be skilled in both these areas. A facilitator’s role is to empower the couple to discuss the issues and move toward awareness and problem solving. The facilitator also helps couples identify and affirm their strengths. Referrals to educational programs and counseling are another component; some models of FOCCUS integrate these elements.
The Facilitator’s Manual provides training and materials. It
is a valuable resource which assists facilitators as they help couples
identify patterns and issues.
While FOCCUS facilitators may chose to relate events of their lives

to listen and hear the stories each couple brings to share. It
is a gift to be able to model good listening and communication skills
with our couples who are preparing to celebrate the sacrament of marriage.
