Marriage Encounter
World Wide Marriage Encounter is designed to give married couples the opportunity to examine their lives together, during a weekend away from the distractions and the tensions of everyday life.
Retrouvaille
A program for troubled marriages, it consists of a weekend experience - helping to re-establish marital communication - and a series of 12 presentations offered within the three months following.
When most marry they truly believe they will live "happily ever after." On their wedding day they know that as a couple together they can face anything that comes their way.
After awhile, though, things begin to change. Everyday life begins to push couple's ideals to the back as they deal with children, finances, careers and whatever else life brings them. Many times, marriages suffer from a lack of time devoted just to the marriage.
Marriage is a lifetime journey with many ups and downs. It is fragile and needs care. It is important for couples to carve out time they can devote to keeping their marriage strong and healthy. Marriages that are enriched are the ones that stand the test of time. A strong marriage is the best gift you can give to your children.
A strong foundation of a martial relationship cannot be achieved unless a couple is intentional about it. This means taking time each day to think about each other and to do some small act of love for each other. Every week try to have a date were they can put aside the cares of life and focus on each other just as they did when they first met. Also each year they should do something that will help enrich their marriage – attend a talk or workshop, go on retreat, read a book about marriage relationships, etc.
Some parishes offer enrichment opportunities during the year. Check with your pastor to see what is available for you.
