Divorce Adjustment Seminar
A response the Catholic Church in Kalamazoo offers to those trying
to put their lives back together after a separation or divorce.
NACSDC
Since 1974, the North American Conference of Separated and Divorced Catholics, Inc., has been responsible for creating a network of support for families experiencing separation and divorce.
Support Groups
Hosted at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Portage, this program is for Catholics who are in the midst of or who have experienced divorce.
Tribunal
Provided there appears to be a reasonable basis to enter a petition for nullity or dissolution, it is strongly suggested that persons contact the diocesan Tribunal soon after obtaining a civil divorce or dissolution, even if there is little or no thought about future marriage.
The Church understands that today all marriages experience trouble and too many are ending in divorce.
Divorce is not easy. It cuts to the very core of a person. It is a time of confusion and hurt. There is a sense of embarrassment and shame that too often keeps many from seeking the help they need to grow through this difficult time. Many feel lost and alone.
Unfortunately, some have a sense that the Church will only be there to judge and condemn. However, there is a misunderstanding of what the Church teaches about the relationship of a divorced person in the Church and the reception of the sacraments.
If you find yourself being in a difficult marriage or going through a divorce, we encourage you not to wait to seek support and guidance. Do not let the stigma of counseling hold you back from seeking professional help. The Church is, just like Christ, in the business of bringing healing and wholeness to all those who seek it.
