Divorce Adjustment Seminar
When a marriage breaks down, for
whatever reason, IT HURTS! It is hard enough facing all the practical changes
that this brings to one’s life — strained finances, moving, getting
a job, parenting issues, etc. But on top of all these stresses is emotional
upheaval and adjustment.
To face this alone is an extremely heavy burden.
Since we as Christians care deeply when another is hurt, the Divorce Adjustment
Seminar is a response the Catholic Church in Kalamazoo offers to those trying
to put their lives back together after a separation or divorce.
Topics Covered:
- Am I the Only One?
First steps to putting my life back together.
- Facing My Emotions
Particularly the negative ones of anger and bitterness.
-
Assertiveness
"But I have never done this before; I feel
nervous and inadequate."
- Self Esteem and Identity
"Who am I now that I am single again?"
- Parent-Child Issues
Custody, single parenting, visitation, dealing with
my own parents, etc.
- Clarifying New Sexual Roles "Is it
appropriate to date? It feels so awkward."
- Where Do I Stand With My God and My Church?
When is an annulment appropriate? What about
remarriage?
Additional topics as determined by the needs of the group.
