Parish
Advocates for Persons with Disabilities
Volunteers are trained to observe how a parish can be more welcoming to persons
with disabilities and their families. They work with parish leadership to make
a parish accessible in its building, programs and heart.
Religious Education
Information and assistance for
catechists working with children with special needs in parish religious education
programs. Includes help with adapting lessons, physical accommodations, behavior
management and other assistance as needed.
Retreats
A time apart from daily life to reflect,
play and form community. Retreatants are primarily teen and adults with developmental
disabilities. Retreats begin Friday evenings and end about noon on Sundays.
Resource Library
Books, videos and audio cassettes
are available for loan. Subjects include basic information in disabilities,
teaching techniques and strategies, works on disability and spirituality. Contact
the office for a catalog. Consultation and Referrals Assistance to individuals
and families in finding needed services. Advocacy A voice in the community
at large, supporting the need for all persons to live of life of dignity.
